it's a fix

New year, new start, new beginnings, new resolutions.
A fresh start.

The new year brings such a pretense, such a deceiving nature about it that we all rush to be part of.
Eager voices and eager actions, enthusiasm bursting at the seams. It's the time of year where the thing to do is make a change, start a-fresh.
But the nature of life is that we fall straight back into our old habits, or our old routines. You don't break addictions with a single thought of deciding you want to stop, that you won't do it again.
Life is an addiction, and it comes in all forms for all people, but its full obsessions that are never going to break with the click of your fingers and the strike of twelve.

Yes, I too will admit that I thought this year would be different, this year those bright fireworks would mean something new. Well here I am in mid February, writing the first post for the beginning of the year - a new year means a new blog, means a new start.
And yes, I have just explained that these thoughts and actions don't happen, but didn't I also just explain that it's all an addiction?
I'm sucked back in, and I live in hope that my next fix will do it.
Can this year really be different?
